![]() But we all celebrated and enjoyed the moment and the spectacular views. It was extremely emotional at the Peak and due to the lack of oxygen in the atmosphere, we were only allowed to spend a maximum of 20 minutes there. All 20 of us made it safely up to Uhuru Peak and back down again. This is called "The Roof of Africa" and has year round snow and glaciers. We then walked for another 45 minutes to reach the final peak, Uhuru Peak, at 5,895m. On Monday 4th April we climbed through the night (Sunday night) for 7 hours from Base Camp, to reach the first peak, Stella Point, at sunrise. We walked in total for 7 days and camped for 6 nights. We were a group of 20 doing the climb and had a team of 66 people supporting us from our start at Machame gate all the way up and back down to our finish at Mweka Gate. I would just like to say a HUGE thank you for your support on my trip to Tanzania and my climb of Kilimanjaro. We at Bladins are very proud of the work conducted during this period and the development of our Fritids programme whilst being a part of the research-based work conducted with FriPU. All schools have, alongside researchers from Högskolan i Gävle och Linnéuniversitetet developed projects with the use of practical research efforts and concrete development tasks to strengthen the quality of the programme within Fritids so that this area of the schools becomes a pedagogical complement to the school with the purpose of contributing to each child’s development and learning throughout their school day.įriPU concluded with a digital conference, where Bladins was given the opportunity to share their results, the effects of the project and our experiences of being part of such a programme. Staff and members of school leadership at Bladins Grundskola and Bladins International School of Malmö have worked together with other schools from Stockholms stad, Linköpings and Österåkers municipalities. This programme is organised and implemented by a private research institute Ifous – “Innovation, forskning och utveckling i skola och förskola” (Innovation, research and development in schools and preschools). During the past three years Bladins (BISM and Grundskola) has participated in a research and development programme Fritidshemmets Pedagogiska Uppdrag (FriPU). ![]()
